Millets are a group of highly variable small-seeded grasses, widely grown around the world as cereal crops or grains for fodder and human food.Generally annual, warm-weather cereals belonging to the grass family.

Source of Millet Seeds

Millets are important crops in the semiarid tropics of Asia and Africa (especially in India, Mali, Nigeria, and Niger), with 97% of millet production in developing countries.The crop is favored due to its productivity and short growing season under dry, high-temperature conditions.

Millet Seeds and Nutrition

In a 100 gram serving, raw millet provides 378 calories and is a rich source (20% or more of the Daily Value, DV) of protein, dietary fiber, several B vitamins and numerous dietary minerals, especially manganese at 76% DV (USDA nutrient table). Raw millet is 9% water, 73% carbohydrates, 4% fat and 11% protein (table).

This Sudanese standard is formulated by the technical committee No.4 formed according to the administrative decree of the SSM0/1/A/Idated 18/8/01. It applies to Millet Seeds . On formulating this standard the committee has referred to international publications and works of Sudanese researchers on the subject.

 

Millet Seeds exporting process

  • Our Millet Seeds are packed in 50kg polypropylene (PP) bags.
  • Then loaded in 20 feet containers with up to 22 metric tons of the Millet Seeds.
  • The minimum order quantity (20ft FCL) takes a time period of 10 to 15 days to be on board the vessel, this period varies depending on the quantity ordered.
  • The port of use is PORTSUDAN (SDPZU), with a possibility to re-export from other nearby ports.
  • Estimated time to reach the client’s destination port depends on the shipping lines used and the destination port. Usually, it takes between 2 to 8 weeks for the farthest destination.
  • Payment documents provided along with the shipment.
  • Sudanese Millet Seeds is falling among the products which the US sanctions against Sudan has not exempted, therefore cannot be exported directly from PORTSUDAN to the US market unless obtaining a special OFAC license.
